PROJECT SUMMARY
The aim of the project is to prepare a decarbonisation roadmap for the national agri-food sector that facilitates the transition to a carbon-neutral and circular economy in order to enable companies to adopt the processes and technologies identified.
The roadmap will present a set of sector-wide measures, as well as a set of specific measures for the sectors with the greatest impact in terms of energy consumption and GHG emissions, which will be studied in greater detail.

Specific Aims
- Characterise the national agri-food sector (industrial food and beverage sector) in terms of energy consumption, GHG emissions, water consumption and consumption of raw materials, ensuring that each sector is representative;
- Select the sectors with the greatest impact in terms of energy consumption and GHG emissions;
- Identify processes, technologies and solutions to reduce GHG emissions;
- Identify processes, technologies and solutions to increase the incorporation of renewable energies into gross final energy consumption;
- Identify processes, technologies and solutions that help increase energy efficiency;
- Identify intelligent solutions to support measurement, monitoring and data processing for managing and improving processes, reducing consumption and cutting emissions;
- Identify processes, technologies and solutions that promote efficiency in the use of resources (raw materials, water, energy), from a circular economy perspective;
- Identify processes, technologies and solutions for the sustainable valorisation of by-products, losses, waste or effluents in a circular economy context (zero or minimal final waste);
- Involve and train companies, promoting the adoption of the processes and technologies identified by the national productive fabric with demonstrated added value;
- Involving and empowering companies, equipping their leaders with a comprehensive decarbonisation vision capable of contextualising the fundamental challenges to be addressed throughout the value chain.
