PTCentroDiH has been recognised by the Portuguese government as a Digital Innovation Hub, enabling it to apply for recognition as an EDiH (European Digital Innovation Hub). PTCentroDiH acts as a one-stop shop for promoting competitiveness, innovation and territorial cohesion in the Centre Region. Consequently, the regional and capillary nature of PTCentroDiH's activities is also one of the HUB's main differentiating factors.

In order to ensure the objective of supporting the digital transformation of stakeholders in the Centre Region of Portugal, the PTCentroDiH consortium includes the Region's Clusters, Universities, Polytechnic Institutes, as well as some of the main regional R&D Centres. The PTCentroDiH consortium is therefore in a leading position to identify the main technological needs and requirements of the region's stakeholders and provide appropriate services in "Test before you invest", "Skills and training", "Support for finding investment" and "Innovation ecosystem and networking".

In this context, the vast knowledge of the local economy and the innovation ecosystem, close ties with local stakeholders and experience in providing this type of service are some of the differentiating factors of the PTCentroDiH consortium.

MISSION

PTCentroDiH's mission is to create the conditions to ensure that companies (SMEs and others) as well as other public or private institutions can access the services they need for their digital transformation and that regional stakeholders can have access to proofs of concept with innovative solutions and scalable technologies.

PTCentroDiH is a regional, transversal Digital Innovation Hub that is strongly focused on promoting the digitalisation of entities in the Centre Region in order to boost competitiveness and innovation. In addition, PTCentroDiH also aims to become a European Digital Innovation Centre, supported by the Digital Europe Programme. In this context, PTcentroDiH has the following general objectives:

  • Stimulating the digital development of entities in the Centre Region, particularly SMEs, as well as other public and private institutions, in the interests of competitiveness. This will be fully aligned with the Region's Intelligent Specialisation Strategy (RIS3)
  • Contribute to the identification of human resource qualification and re-qualification needs, with the aim of increasing the Centre Region's economic and social competitiveness.
  • Respond to the requirements identified in the Digital Europe Programme, with regard to prioritising 3 digital technologies: HPC (High Performance Computing), Artificial Intelligence, and cybersecurity
  • Create the basis for intensifying synergies at the national and international level

OBJECTIVES

The PTCentroDiH has defined a set of specific objectives, such as:

  • Acting as a first regional point of contact and strengthening the regional innovation ecosystem
  • Constantly updating the region's main needs in terms of digital technologies
  • Establishing a portfolio of innovative services that will help organisations become more competitive and innovative by embracing digital technologies
  • Developing a platform that will link the region's main service providers with entities in need of digitalisation services
  • Focus on cybersecurity
  • Apply for European Digital Innovation Hub (DiH) recognition
  • Develop strong links with other DIHs at a national and international level
  • Promote the development of activities that foster the establishment of synergies between regional organisations

Technical competences

PTCentroDiH is a regional and transversal HUB that will cover the full range of digital needs of SMEs and other public and private entities in the Centre Region.

As such, and as a way of supporting the digital transformation of the population, companies and the public sector in this region, the PTCentroDiH consortium includes a set of competences in the digital technologies highlighted in the regulation.

Services Provided

The consortium has in-depth knowledge of the region's innovation ecosystem, as well as the existing offer and needs in terms of digital transformation services. As such, PTCentroDiH is in a highly favourable position to provide services that are fully aligned with the real needs and requirements of entities, specifically SMEs and the public sector, in central Portugal.

In this context, PTCentroDiH will provide a range of services such as "Test before you invest", "Skills and training", "Support in finding investment finance" and "Facilitation and intermediation services". The services offered by the HUB will cut across a wide range of technologies with a special commitment to cybersecurity. The services offered by PTCentroDiH are rarely used by local entities, specifically SMEs and the public sector. In this sense, PTCentroDiH's portfolio of services will be highly innovative for local entities, which are not used to having broad access to this type of service.

In addition, PTCentroDiH services will be available to the market at a price below the existing market value. This will be done in such a way as to ensure that these entities have access to a set of services that really contribute to the digital transformation of stakeholders in the centre region. The massification of these innovative services will be one of the main pillars on which PTCentroDiH is based.
