PROJECT SUMMARY

The Joint Internationalisation of the Agroindustrial Cluster 2023-2025 project is a joint sectoral project presented by InovCluster and Agrocluster, which aims to boost the export base and capacity of SMEs in the agri-food sector in an industry 4.0 logic, through the implementation of a structured intervention programme of promotional actions in international markets identified as priorities with the joint participation of SMEs in the agri-food sector. In line with the Internationalise 2030 Plan, the project has strategic lines of intervention based on:

  • To promote the use of digital tools associated with industry 4.0 in the marketing and communication of products and companies;
  • Encouraging the use of new organisational forms of marketing supported by digital tools, namely online shops and joining marketplaces;
  • Specialising in differentiated niches/segments linked to natural, organic and biological products, a strong medium and long-term trend in the global market and an opportunity for functional foods;
  • Focusing on promotion in the sector's wider industry, giving expression to the collaborative strategy between sectors.

The solutions and activities presented by this project are perfectly aligned with the call for tenders and have the following direct objectives:

  • To direct the growth of Portuguese companies, especially small SMEs, towards foreign markets;
  • To consolidate the markets where the participating SMEs have already developed activities with good results, increasing the level of incorporation of their exports;
  • To increase the visibility of companies, products and the national agri-food sector through international marketing actions aimed at selected target markets and which boost the national added value (VAN) of products by their consumers and buyers;
  • Boosting the use of digital tools through the use of organisational and marketing processes associated with industry 4.0.

The end result of the proposed actions is to increase the weight of activities producing tradable and internationalise goods and services in the agri-food sector and to boost the export orientation of the SMEs involved in the project, focusing on the diversity and complementarity of SMEs' offer of Portuguese products.
