PROJECT SUMMARY
Hub4Food is a transnational initiative to establish an innovation hub for the Atlantic food sector. It brings together agrifood clusters and RTOs to enhance innovation ecosystem connections and the RDI capacities of the Atlantic food industry, as well as to foster the development of new and improved food products (focusing on marine origin), thanks to complementary competences and capacities.
Hub4Food will put in place a market-driven RDI programme to test and validate advanced technologies applicable to the food sector, stablishing a mechanism for collaboration between RTOs and enterprises (specially SMEs). It will also implement a Business Innovation Facility providing services to food enterprises, supporting them to overcome challenges and needs. Also, it will integrate the 4-helix perspective through a citizen science approach, by involving science stakeholders, policy makers and society. Thus, Hub4Food will foster innovation, competitiveness and sustainability in the food sector.
Project overall objective:
Hub4Food aims to enhance the R&D and innovation capacities of the Atlantic food industry and RTOs in the Atlantic Area and foster the development of new and improved food products (with focus on marine origin). It will promote the uptake of advanced technologies or processes to increase the sustainability and competitiveness of the Atlantic food sector, as well as improve the availability and quality of business and innovation support services that enterprises (especially SMEs) benefit from.
Workplan:
WP1 - Map, inspire and connect
WP1.1 - Technology roadmap of technologies, techniques, advanced processes and product trends
The roadmap represents the basis of the Hub4Food project: it aims to reflect the current level of knowledge and mastery within the food industry regarding new technologies, techniques and processes for developing innovative market-ready products.
The activity was led by VALORIAL, and followed the following methodology:
This roadmap responds to the constantly evolving demands of the market, ensuring that companies and players in the agri-food sector are equipped with the knowledge and tools they need to innovate effectively and sustainably.
Results: 1 Roadmap of advanced technologies, techniques, processes and product trends. Valorial | 01.2024 – 09.2024"
WP1.2 - Map of Competences and Resources related to the Atlantic Food industry, is now available through a dynamic search tool for SMEs
This Mapping is part of WP1 ‘Map, inspire and connect’ performed by InovCluster, that aimed to identify the key organisations in the Atlantic Area that have relevant expertise and/ or resources related to the advanced technologies, techniques, processes and product trends identified in the Technology Roadmap (A1.1). It was created a comprehensive database of these organisations and their profiles, including their capabilities, resources, and areas of expertise.
This database was converted in two Dynamic Maps: the Map of Entities and the Map of Technologies, both dully connected and that are allocated at the Hub4Food website. Its end-users are SMEs, or other relevant stakeholders from the food industry from the Atlantic Area, have no access to know what food technologies and knowledge are available for them, accordingly to their expectations, challenges and objectives for the development of new food products and also, where and how to reach them. Both maps provide a very effective search tool, that can be used joining several criteria by the SMEs, accordingly to their expectations.
Both maps currently have the identification and competences of the RTOs that compose the Hub4Food Consortium but, to be a real Hub, the Hub4Food project is extending the possibility for other RTOs from the Atlantic region to join this map of RDI Competences. This possibility is open untill the end of the project, and we strongly urge all RTOs to join us so we can jointly boost the cooperative innovation in the food and drink and marine sectors in the AA region.
If you are a RTO for this sector, join us here!
