Tourist and Gastronomic Route: CHEESES FROM THE CENTRAL REGION

PROJECT SUMMARY:

The Tourism and Gastronomic Route of the Center Region Cheeses Project aims to create a tourist and gastronomic route associated with cheeses with DOP qualification from the Center Region, structuring and qualifying a tourist product capable of improving the attractiveness of the territory and of being a driving force for the tourist activity in the region. The route brings together three PDO Regions, where Serra da Estrela PDO, Beira Baixa PDO and Rabaçal PDO cheeses are produced.

Its operation will be done through the implementation of 4 actions:

1. Definition / signaling of the route. It consists of a survey of private operators (dairies, restaurants, hotels, shepherds) and other entities (associations, municipalities) interested in integrating the cheese route and streamlining activities aimed at tourists, allowing them to experience unique and authentic experiences. This action also includes the focus on the design and production of specific signage, which will be placed in establishments that adhere to the route.
2. Website development and interactive application (APP) and its contents. Allows you to embody the route, linking it with other tourist assets (hotels and restaurants; points of interest; stories and legends about the theme; other tourist routes). This action will allow the development of the website and application, whose contents, which include video and photography, will enable tourists to prepare their trip in advance, as they will have access to all the information necessary to do so.
3. Development of a training program for tourist agents that adhere to the Route. This action is intended to provide tourist agents with the necessary skills to provide a quality service to tourists.
4. Promotion and dissemination of the Route. With this action, it is intended to bet on a campaign that guarantees the attraction of national and international tourists to travel the route.
