PROJECT SUMMARY 

 

The Portuguese Agrofood Cluster 2.0 project aims to support the strengthening of action within the scope of collective efficiency strategies, seeking to respond to market failures and common opportunities of the agrifood sector's business fabric, in areas such as: innovation and technology transfer, digitalization of the industry, identification and training of suppliers, strengthening the link between start-ups and industrial companies, internationalization, circular economy and energy efficiency. The activities presented by this project are aligned with the call for proposals and have as direct objectives:

  • Development of a unique and distinctive image of the Cluster, representing its own identity, mission and values. The creation of this identity will represent the Cluster's own brand and should also represent the aggregation of its four constituent entities: PORTUGALFOODS, INOVCLUSTER, AGROCLUSTER DO RIBATEJO and PORTUGAL FRESH. This activity is extremely important in terms of enhancing the Cluster's visibility and standardizing its representativeness, both nationally and internationally;
  • Preparation of studies, research and diagnostics, with a view to empowering companies in the sector with key knowledge in areas and on themes that are essential for their development and competitiveness in the marketplace, by surveying the needs and constraints of the sector's business fabric that are not yet being addressed by other projects or initiatives carried out by the entities that make up the Cluster or by others of which they are aware;
  • Organizing and implementing awareness and information actions to build the capacity of the sector's business fabric, promoting the transformation and modernization of the existing industrial fabric, stimulating the competitive capacity of companies in various segments, ensuring the restructuring of the production and logistics chains and their adaptation to ongoing or anticipated changes in the future, maintaining the focus on qualified investment and innovation
  • Sharing of experiences between the Cluster and companies in the sector, through specialized support that includes marketing initiatives and technical assistance to participate in international collaboration activities and insertion in international knowledge and innovation platforms Promotion of entrepreneurship and competitiveness in the agro-food sector, through the organisation of events and competitions leading to the awarding of prizes and good practices. To this end, PortugalFoods organises the Ecotrophelia Award, which brings together students, teachers, researchers, companies and professionals in the agri-food sector to develop eco-innovative products;
  • Promotion and dissemination of project activities, ensuring that all results (such as studies and reports) are freely and universally available to companies in the national agri-food sector. Application of an annual survey that aims to collect the opinion and feedback from companies on the development of this project, the necessary information to assess the result indicators, potential improvements to be implemented and its application success.
