PROJECT SUMMARY

The Internationalisation of the Agroindustrial Cluster 2021-2023 Project aims to promote the development of competitiveness and export capacity in a group of SMEs in the agri-food sector, through the implementation of a structured intervention programme of promotional actions in international markets identified as priorities with the joint participation of SMEs in the agri-food sector.
Incrementally, compared to previous applications, the project presents strategic intervention lines based on: a) clear focus on promoting the use of digital tools associated with Industry 4.0 in marketing and communication of products and companies; b) specialization in differentiated niches/segments linked to natural, organic and biological products, as a strong trend in the medium and long term of the global market representing an opportunity for functional foods; c) focus on promotion in the logic of the sector's extended chain giving expression to the collaborative strategy between sectors advocated by InovCluster.
In continuity with the work already developed in the last years, the international intervention in this project comprises new markets in non-traditional countries of the agro-food sectors and traditional markets with relevant interest for the growth of the niches to which the SMEs involved in each fair belong. The solutions and activities presented by this project are perfectly aligned with the call for proposals and have the following direct objectives:

  • To guide the growth of Portuguese companies, especially small-sized SMEs, towards the identified external markets through promotional actions with participation in international reference fairs, investing in diversification of markets and events;

  • To consolidate the markets where the member SMEs have already developed activities with good results by increasing the incorporation level of their exports

  • Increase the visibility of companies, products and the national agri-food sector through international marketing actions directed at the selected target markets and that enhance the increase in the perceived value of products by their consumers and buyers;

  • Enhance the increased use of digital tools through the use of marketing processes associated with Industry 4.0.

The final result that the proposed actions are intended to achieve is to increase the weight of activities producing tradable and internationalize goods and services in the agro-food sector and to enhance the increase of the exporting orientation of the SMEs involved in the project, being globally aligned with the political priorities in the field of competitiveness and internationalization. InovCluster focused on the diversity and complementarity of the Portuguese products offered by the selected SMEs, providing a better organisation of joint activities and enabling a structured response to the common problems identified among the SMEs.
