The GATE5.0 acceleration program begins its journey with the start of the first phase (SEED Phase), which accompanies the selected projects in the development of their value proposition and business model.
The 40 selected projects are the result of collaboration between an SME in the agri-food sector and a technology or deep-tech SME, which will work together to develop Agriculture 5.0 solutions. This methodology seeks to connect real challenges in the sector with technologies such as artificial intelligence, IoT, robotics, computer vision, data analytics or Digital Twins.
The start of the SEED Phase comes after kick-off with the selected projects on August 27, which officially kicked off this first phase.
Now, the 40 projects begin their journey within GATE 5.0
The selected projects cover a wide variety of challenges: water management, productivity and labor, soil health, reduction of agricultural inputs, traceability, climate resilience, livestock, horticulture and new production models.
1. FLORA — Field-validated Labour Optimisation for Remote Apiculture in mountain environments
A solution to optimize the work and monitoring of beekeeping in mountain environments, facilitating the remote management of hives.

The 40 selected projects show the extent to which the digital and green transformation of the agri-food sector can address very diverse challenges: from the lack of water and the need to reduce inputs to traceability, workforce management, resilience to climate change or the need to make better decisions based on data.
The GATE5.0programme, co-funded by the European Union through the SMP-COSME EUROCLUSTERS programme, has a global budget of €2.26 million, of which €1.97 million will be used to directly finance innovative startups and SMEs participating in the programme.
Each selected consortium – made up of an agri-food company and a technology company – will be able to receive up to 118,500 euros in direct funding, training and mentoring with the aim of developing and validating its innovative solution for the agri-food sector.
The program is driven by a consortium made up of 3 European entities that accompany these projects in a three-phase path: SEED, focused on the value proposition and business model; SPROUT, oriented to the development and validation of prototypes; and HARVEST, focused on large-scale demonstration, market readiness and scalability.
Now, with the start of the SEED Phase, the first chapter of this journey begins.
