Atlantic Food Innovation Hub

Hub4Food aims to strengthen the research, development and innovation capacities of the food industry and research and technology organisations in the Atlantic Area. It focuses on promoting the development of new and improved food products, particularly those of marine origin. Hub4Food will support the adoption of new technologies and processes to increase sustainability and competitiveness in the Atlantic food sector, while improving support services for businesses, particularly SMEs.

Project objectives:

    • Create a business innovation structure that provides services to companies, supporting their innovation and competitiveness.
    • Develop a technology roadmap and skills database that Atlantic food industries can use.
    • Implement a market-oriented R&D&I (research, development and business innovation) programme, consisting of collaborative pilot projects between SMEs in the Atlantic region's food sector and hub4food technology centres.
    • Generate new knowledge and raise awareness of the food sector by bringing together science, policy makers and society.

 

Hub4Food - Innovation Support Mechanism for Companies

Hub4Food will implement a Business Innovation Strategy to provide services to companies, supporting innovation and competitiveness. It will function as a central virtual network of regional/national contact points that implement services in their respective regions but cooperate transnationally to ensure maximum impact and success.

Hub4Food services are provided by the partnership clusters, which collaborate with each other in defining and delivering these services. Each cluster has prepared a catalogue of services available to SMEs in the food sector in their respective regions.

InovCluster currently has two CALLs open for the first services available, which are:

 

» Innovation Programme for Market Trends

Support service for SMEs in market analysis and consumer trends, guiding decisions on innovation and product development to strengthen competitiveness in the markets.

DESCRIPTION:

    • Preparation of market and consumption trend reports tailored to the needs of SMEs;
    • Detailed analyses based on credible international sources, ensuring accurate and relevant data;
    • Comprehensive market research and analysis services, providing strategic insights to keep SMEs competitive.

» Design & Marketing Services Programme

Development and implementation of design and marketing strategies geared towards innovation and consolidation of the market positioning of agri-food products, with a focus on brand enhancement.

DESCRIPTION:

    • Personalised support for SMEs in the area of agri-food design and marketing;
    • Access to creative and strategic knowledge through Inovcluster's communications team;
    • Development of brands and packaging aligned with product positioning.

Who can benefit?

Registered Portuguese agri-food SMEs

The Criteria

  • Opening of calls for applications from companies interested in using the services.
  • Establishment of specific criteria for selecting SMEs applying for the service;
  • Limitation on the number of participating SMEs;
  • Specific criteria will be defined according to the nature of the service for the selection of candidates;
  • With regard to webinars, participation is subject to prior registration.

How to take part?

Expressions of interest must be submitted by 11 October 2025 using the application form.
