PROJECT SUMMARY

The FUSILLI project- - Fostering the Urban food System Transformation through Innovative Living Labs Implementation aims to support pan-European cities and their peripheral areas, creating a strong network of cooperation for the transfer of knowledge and sharing of experiences and challenges related to the food processing sector. Through this network, each city will create an urban food plan that, in an integrated and holistic way, will allow a transition to more equitable, inclusive, profitable, healthy, safe and sustainable food production systems. This transition will be supported by the creation of effective and replicable urban policies that lead to the implementation of actions with a positive impact on the efficiency of the various stages of the food value chain, in line with the four priorities of the FOOD2030 strategy: Nutrition for Healthy and Sustainable Diets ; Healthy and Environmentally Friendly Food Systems; Resource Efficient Circular Food Systems; Innovation and Community Empowerment.

Each city will create or reinforce a Living Lab, which will be an innovation ecosystem where concrete activities will be developed to develop and implement policies for a food production system that responds to the four priorities of the FOOD2030 strategy. These Living Labs have the objective of implementing different innovative actions at all stages of the food value chain: production, transformation, distribution and logistics, consumption, food waste, waste treatment and administration. Each Living Lab will involve several actors representing the various stages of the local food value chain, and must have at least one public authority, an industry representative – InovCluster –, a consumer association and a representative of the local education system.

These Living Labs will also integrate a Knowledge Community that will compile local initiatives to develop a catalog of good practices to be implemented which, in turn, will be shared by the Living Labs network of the various cities participating in the project, as well as with other initiatives at the global level.
